>> When I was deciding to apply to MBA programs, there are a whole list of things that were important to me. So I ended up applying to 11 different programs. And at the end of the day, I found out what was most important to me was the fit; so I actually came to visit twice before making my decision and I just felt so comfortable here. The people in 220 were so welcoming, and I really felt like this would be the program that would give me the most personalized attention. >> I chose Penn State because of its reputation in supply chain management.
Again, my background is in transportational logistics, and I wanted to, again, continue on that same industry after I got my MBA. So I was looking for a school that was respected in that field as well, and, of course, Penn State is very highly ranked in supply chain management. For me it was a no-brainer.
I applied for Penn State directly because I knew the reputation it had in the field. >> I decided to come back to Smeal for my MBA because I felt that I really needed a firm grounding in business processes and business ideas. My undergraduate degree was very technical, so I really felt that if I wanted to succeed in business, I needed to come back and really get that knowledge that I was lacking from my undergraduate degree. I chose Smeal because of the overwhelming feeling of family that I felt when I came here for a visitation. >> I came here during the welcome weekend for admitted students, and I'd been to a number of MBA schools and toured and talked to students, and I just -- I guess I kind of felt like the other people I talked to, they were kind of, you know, cookie-cutter. They were programmed to say what they said. Here I just felt like the people were really real and they were honest with me and not just giving me something that sounded good so I could come to their school, but they were very open and honest, and I think that's one of the things -- that's probably the thing I appreciated most out of anything was the fact that they were honest and real with me.
So the tight-knit community. I made some good friends here, and I really think it's one of the best decisions I ever made in my life.
